WE DID IT!

Team Photo.Day1

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Message from Det:

WE DID IT!  My words will fail me if I try to describe what all of us experienced this past weekend.  It was triumphant for all of us.  Only this experience could reveal some of the greatest joys and challenges in life.  No matter what the weather brought on, no matter how many blisters popped, and no matter how badly you wanted to just give up, when your mind and heart perseveres  it can accomplish the unthinkable.

What a pleasure to walk with my heroes!  This walk has brought us closer to the cure, and I am so glad we were part of that step.

Love you all to the Max!

Message from Alice:

Hello Ladies!

I, too, am honored to have walked with all of you!  I am in awe of you and am grateful to have had a glimpse of the very best bit of the human spirit.  I heard the term recently “true Yankee grit”…that’s what you’ve got!  You also have hearts of gold, enormous compassion, and great senses of humor!  I look forward to getting together again very soon!

Thank you for everything.

Love,

Alice

PS  I have a few pictures of us at the beginning of the walk and my hubby took a few at the end.  I will TRY and forward them….xo

Message from Dottie:

You guys are the greatest-thanks for all your patience with this old BROAD. thanks for taking the time to walk with me. This experience was one I think we all will remember for a long time. All your high energy was contagious. At times I was a little envious of your youth and stamina. The world is a better place because of all you young women. For me it is remembering that the little things we do for one another are the most important. The tears on Gina’s face as she thanked us for walking. the children on the corner giving out lemonade. I am so looking forward to doing this again. It has made me realize that we should always give it a try no matter what the outcome. There are many more things to be accomplished. I love you all and I am grateful for the sore feet, knees, back, and wrist. God bless you all for what you do!!

Message from Linda:

Yeah US!!!

I am so proud of us all…we have really done something this time!!  We have raised money, awareness and a fond appreciation for what we have.  I am very thankful for all of you.  Your friendship, your strength, your fierce determination (and I’m not going to mention any names Dottie, Gerri and Claudette)  and your love and your support.  I am truly a better person for having shared this experience with all of you and I thank you very much!!

I cant wait to see you all again at our reunion!!!  I am trying to nail down a date and will let you all know as soon as I know!!

xxoooxxxoooxxxoooxxxoooxxxoooxxxooooxxx!!!!

all of my love and gratitude to you

linda

Who would of thought the color Pink would tranform our color palette.  Pink is the new black in this family.  Leading the way is Mama Dottie, no one really has anything to complain about when she is 110% on board.

Pretty in Pink

Pretty in Pink

We’ve all had to do things that were not in our comfort zones but we have just redefined “Pink”.  It marks the relationship we had with Suzy, it pronounces boldly our willing determination, it also reminds us to get off our butt and make a difference by our actions.

So when you see us wearing our Pinks and walking by, say hello, you just might get the “Pink-bug”…but you got to wear it proudly.

We never ran out of food and we sure never ran out of laughter.  Not only did we raise money for the Breast Cancer but we forged friendships that will last a lifetime.  Here are a few more shots of our parties.

Oh by the way, I am still taking alterations for the cure:  508-631-1339.  Don’t hesitate to call me for all your sewing needs.

Happy Walking all!

Show Us the Money!

Asking for money is not a easy thing to do, especially in a time that just seems to be hurting everyone.  Twenty-three Hundred dollars seem like alot of money to raise for one person, and I have to confess, it is.  All I know is I want to do my part. The only person that connects me to Breast Cancer is Suzy and she passed away with Heart Disease.  So why do I bother to give my energy to a cause that hasn’t hit me personally?  Well, my main objective besides honoring Suzy, is that I continue to never have to experience losing anyone to such a disease, let’s just say I am trying to be proactive.  If it ever does, I pray to God we have a cure.

After the walk on Saturday, again at Castle Island, I stared at my ring less puffy fingers and stiff feet.  I’ve learned that I need more electrolytes and must juggle some Gatorade or Sports Drinks or eat anything that is salty.  Its great to be alive and its even more amazing that I, along with these wonderful Bosom Buddies that we are healthy to do this walk, sure enough I can handle some swelling.

If you are blessed to be in a position to be generous, we appreciate your donations.  I am sure you are bombarded with millions of request for donating to a gazillion organizations out there and you are thinking not one more.  As your friend, your family, your co-worker, your neighbor, and your community, we are asking you  to remember the one more person that may extend someones life, or that one more research testing that will lead to the cure of this disease.  We can never stop saying thank you for all of you who have supported us in this journey, thank you for thinking about that ONE MORE person.

Here is a clip from Castle Island, hoping to give you some incentive to donate.  Although, I love Gerry and Joanie, they failed miserably answering the question which I struggled to ask.

Believe it or not we did actually manage to walk nine miles considering these gals manage to have time for a Swing Break!

After six miles, we could not really make out which way to go for that extra three miles…but as you can see we figured it out.

So it was another fulfilling walk at Castle Island, thanks ladies for all the gabbing and chuckling!  And thanks Teresa for getting Florida to give us some sun, hope that swimming with the Dolphins was worth missing us.  Don’t worry I was not a tad jealous, I just gotta get better at swimming so I can go too.

Today, Joanie and I went to Bentley University for the Breast Cancer Expo, very informative.  But the words that stuck in my brain was “DRINK AND PEE AND NO IV!”  We’ll send you more details in how we can survive the 60 mile walk.  We’re in this together.  We met some interesting characters, we saw the Pink Soldier and Bob the Irish Viking.

Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

OK gals, Remember to stay STRONG and COURAGEOUS!  See you on our next training walk.

Love you all! Peace Out.

1 Corinthians 13: 1-3  Love

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Susan was a woman that passed away before I met her; she was part of this wonderful new family that God has graciously given me. I now can say with confidence that I finally got to know her. Her gregarious loving spirit is living inside these women that I have gotten to know deeper through our training walks. Wherever you are Suzy, your love has brought us closer, and God has used you beyond your life here on earth. Thank you for your impetuous desire to make a difference in this world but most of all thank you for your love.

In Joanie I see the laughter that echoes your humor and the strength of your leadership. Alice must have your sense of style, you were timeless and reassuring. Your child-like excitement and toughness to carry on even if your leg was in pain is all in Gerry. Mama Dottie no doubt the rock of the Slack’s, and you are for the Leary-Ames. Who do you think exemplifies your hosting abilities and multi-tasking energy…Teresa, hands down! She hosted back to back party this weekend, and still managed to be a great mom and wife. Neicie’s smile could light up a room, even in the most difficult times. I received your love and when my time comes, I would love to do a training walk with you in the clouds of heaven.

God has now taught me that my love can endure my flesh and that it’s the act of love that changes the lives of others. I hope my love can also change the lives of many, and to God be the Glory!

Here is our return to Castle Island! Thank you for sharing our journey. As of to date we are almost at twenty-five percent of our goal, we would like to reach seventy-five percent by the end of May. We can not do this without your support, please help us reach our goals.

Alice it was great to see you and it will be our turn to trek to New Hampshire in May. Kate and Auntie Barbara our encouraging side-kicks, it’s always a pleasure. We are so thrilled with our newest members Linda and Pamela. Welcome Ladies to BBFS!

Again, thank you for all those generous donors!

Keep walking, with love!

Det Agustin-Slack

P.S  Thanks also to the fellow who kindly took a picture of us and posed with us.

Good afternoon family,

My sister in law Kristine heard this song this morning and sent it to me.

It is beautiful and reminded her of Sue.

YOU will need tissues, but it is very comforting as well.

No doubt this is what Sue would say to all of those who love her.

Have a great day!

Love to all,

Joanie
